I live with my wonderful husband who paints, with watercolors mostly in Chinese brush style. He also scrapbooks and knits with me when we fancy. I also live with the two most adorable dogs in the world. Athena(named after the Greek Goddess because she bit us like no other when she was a puppy and puppies have THE SHARPEST TEETH) is my half shitzu/half chihuahua who only weighs 6 pounds. She looks bigger because of her shitzu hair but- get her in a bath and she is magically turned into a drowned rat! Barbosa is my mini chocolate dachshund who is really small even for a mini- he is like a mini mini! He only weighs about 8.5 pounds but if someone were to ever attack me, my one true defense is that he would protect me by licking their face off. Lol. In spite of both of them being full grown- I call them puppies. I call horses- ponies and full grown cats-kittens. All in all, I love all things of cuteness and I think that's why I change names of things around me like that.
I grew up in a family with an abusive mother and a gentle yet stern father. When he wasn't home, I kept to myself to be able to keep busy and stay out of my mother's way. Being intrigued by Highlights magazines for kids, I would often try all sorts of things out of the craft pages to incredible success for a child my age. I did come from a very creative family and so I have always thought that it was just instilled in me at an early age. When I got into elementary school, I was known to make and sell my crafts. I guess you could say that I was an adolescent entrepreneur. I started by making stickers from a sticker machine that my parents had purchased for me for Christmas one year. Then when Pogs were popular, I started making my own and selling those. In middle school I began making seed bead hippie flowered necklaces and sold those. I remember always having extra cash at 12 years old which at that age, was rare at my school. Needless to say, I had a lot of friends because I gave discounts to friends then. My fascination of crafting led me to buying many jewelry magazines and books to further discover technique. I loved making jewelry but soon found that it is a hard business to make work in the crafting world mainly for the reason that it is one of the most popular crafts and the market for it is overwhelmed and over-saturated by sellers. So, when I received an antique (circa 1906-1910) heirloom singer treadle sewing machine I began to learn about sewing. Since then, I have been on a journey while designing and making my own kawaii hats and plushies.
Update: I am in love with makeup! I have started class for cosmetology and while they don't teach us a lot about makeup, I have taken it upon myself to learn all that I can about fashion makeup and special FX makeup. I am beginning a portfolio for myself and have been trying to take tons of pictures. So now be prepared for a combination of the cute and morbid!
